Scientist.com Earns California Competes Tax Credit

Sean Preci on November 29, 2017

According to a report released by the California Life Sciences Association (CLSA), “California life sciences companies directly employ 281,000 people and generate $130 billion in revenue.” These stats show that the industry is constantly evolving and expanding within the Golden State. The truth is that people continue to contract diseases that need cures.

Scientist.com is doing its part to help find cures and promote innovation by expanding its workforce and improving its marketplace. Earlier this month, Scientist.com was one of 90 California businesses chosen to receive tax credits for supporting job growth and investing in the state’s overall economy. The 350K tax credit is part of the California Competes program initiated by the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). In all, a total of $69 million for 90 companies adding over 6,200 jobs was approved by the tax credit committee.

Despite Scientist.com’s recent expansion into European markets and a new office in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, it continues to broaden its base of operations at home — it added 16 full-time employees in San Diego this year alone. Looking ahead, Scientist.com will continue to expand locally and globally, remain at the forefront of innovation and most importantly help researchers find cures.
