2022 Year in Review

Scientist on January 16, 2023

It’s that time of the year again. The time to look back and reflect on the triumphs and tribulations of the past year but also look forward to the year ahead with a restored sense of hope and motivation for what is to come. Life moves quickly, and it can be easy to keep pushing forward from one task to the next without taking a moment to recognize all that has been accomplished along the journey. So, we decided to do just that. Join us for a wrap-up of some of Scientist.com’s 2022 highlights:

The Scientist.com community spans far and wide. This year we supported a total of 145 marketplaces that are utilizing the platform to achieve faster science within their organizations. Additionally, we have over 4,300 signed suppliers ready and able to help meet their research needs.

We have made great strides since our company’s inception, and we are proud to be working with exceptional pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, CROs, academic cores and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). We have grown YOY sales for 32 straight quarters with 2022 sales surpassing $400 million USD. Also, our platform helped facilitate over 11,900 orders this year. We aim to help researchers achieve “faster science”, and this year we saw that the marketplace can help save researchers 25 hours or more per request. These are far more than just numbers, rather they are tangible proof that our platform is helping to facilitate and streamline scientific R&D and that we are moving closer to our goal of helping cure all human disease by 2050.

We are pleased to see increased interest in the various research areas that we offer on our platform. Among all those research areas, there were some that stood out among the rest. The most popular service areas on our platform this year were: human biological sample acquisition, DNA & RNA, protein sciences, discovery chemistry, antibodies, cell culture and characterization, biomarkers, in vitro assays and disease models.

In 2021, we welcomed InsideScientific and HealthEconomics.Com into the Scientist.com family, which greatly expanded our capabilities for creating scientific content, hosting webinars, and providing additional marketing resources and services. This past year we ran close to 100 scientific webinars, with a combined total of 70,000+ registrants and hosted by leading life science companies such as Crown Bioscience, STEMCELL Technologies, and more!

If you are interested in learning more about how you can host a webinar with us, or if you would like to explore our other marketing offerings, visit marketing.scientist.com or contact us at marketing@scientist.com. Our mission goes far beyond simply trying to receive recognition for our work; nevertheless, it is always gratifying to know that others believe in and celebrate our mission. We are excited to have been recognized as the “Overall Biopharma Solution of the Year” by the Biotech Breakthrough Awards. Also, we would like to thank the San Diego Business Journal for naming us as “San Diego’s Second Fastest Growing Company”. Lastly, we want to recognize our Chief Customer Officer, Diana Ourthiague, PhD,, for being honored as one of the top 25 women leaders in biotechnology by The Healthcare Technology Report.

Each year we like to look back and reflect on the progress we have made because it can be so easy to keep moving full steam ahead without taking the time to stop and acknowledge how far our team has come and how much closer to our goal we have gotten. However, it is just as important to acknowledge the projects or ideas that failed and the moments that did not go as planned, for it is in those moments we are often able to discover opportunities for learning and growth. The new year serves as a beacon of hope, and we are excited for everything to come! Thank you to all the wonderful and hardworking people that make up our team, who share our common goal of empowering and connecting scientists worldwide. We would also like to thank all of you for joining and supporting us on this journey, and we look forward to our continued collaboration into the new year!
