2024 Year in Review
As another year has come to a close, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome and the milestones we’ve achieved in 2024. This annual tradition of introspection not only allows us to celebrate our successes but also to foster a renewed sense of motivation for the future. In the hustle and bustle of daily tasks, it’s easy to overlook the progress we’ve made along the way. Therefore, let’s take this opportunity to acknowledge the journey we’ve embarked on together over the last 12 months.
Last year, we helped researchers achieve an average savings of $10.7k per order when purchasing services through Scientist.com. Our multi-sourcing functionality allows researchers to efficiently compare quotes from multiple suppliers, ensuring they find the best price that aligns with their budget. Additionally, if you have not yet tried out the new “Negotiate” button, be sure to test it out for an extra opportunity to secure further discounts by sending an AI-generated message directly to the supplier.
The platform has not only enabled significant financial savings for users but has also saved something some would argue is even more valuable — over 123,000 hours of work across various teams, including research, procurement, quality affairs and compliance, legal and finance. Given the notoriously slow pace of the drug discovery pipeline, Scientist.com attempts to accelerate the process wherever possible.
In 2024, Scientist.com achieved recognition through several significant awards. We proudly received the Innovation in Supplier Diversity Award from the Sourcing Industry Group. Additionally, the San Diego Business Journal recognized us as the 3rd Fastest-Growing Private Company in the large company category. Lastly, we were honored to be included in The Healthcare Technology Report’s list of the Top 100 Healthcare Technology Companies.
Although there are thousands of research services offered on the platform, there were a few areas that proved to be more popular than others this year. These include human biological sample acquisition DNA & RNA; Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls; protein sciences; antibodies; biomarkers; oncology models; in vitro assays; disease models and discovery chemistry. Learn how to access these services and others here.
Like many companies in 2024, Scientist.com truly embraced the potential of AI, incorporating it into our everyday operations and enhancing our platform’s functionality. One example of these advancements is the introduction of our first-ever LLM-powered research assistant, Elisa. This intuitive assistant is specifically designed to understand the nuances of pharmaceutical research, leveraging our platform’s public data sources to assist users with their research endeavors.
Additionally, we launched Aiden, an AI-driven chatbot crafted specifically with biotech investors in mind. Aiden can be found on BioPharmCatalyst and is adept at addressing FAQs, guiding users through BioPharmCatalyst’s tools and offering personalized recommendations.
To further push the development and adoption of AI across the industry, we hosted an extensive educational AI Innovation series, hosted by our CTO and Co-founder, Chris Petersen, where he delves into the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of language models and their implications on driving research advancements. Access the sessions on-demand, here.
